On the morning of April 7, Professor Li Rong, Director of the Mechanobiology Institute at the National University of Singapore and an internationally renowned cell biologist, visited the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) at the invitation of the FAH for academic exchanges and discussions. Professor Lyu Yi, President of the FAH, Professor Zhang Xufeng, Vice President of the FAH, and heads of relevant disciplines and functional departments, including Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, International Exchange and Coopeation Center, participated in the exchange. The meeting was chaired by Vice President Zhang Xufeng.
President Lyu Yi, on behalf of the FAH, delivered a welcome address. He noted that the FAH has formally signed a memorandum of cooperation with the Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine of the National University of Singapore, thereby establishing a solid platform for international exchange. He added that Professor Li’s visit marks a further deepening of cooperation between the two sides and also presents an important opportunity to advance the FAH’s basic research and clinical translation.
During the academic lecture session, Professor Li Rong delivered a keynote lecture titled “Mechanics and Stress in Cellular Development and Aging”, in which she shared the latest research advances in cell mechanics and age-reversal research.
Yang Xiaofeng, Deputy Director of the Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology, gave a presentation titled “The Relationship between Tumor Immuno-Microenviroment Disequilibrium and Carcinogenesis of Cervical Cancer”, sharing basic research on cervical cancer in the field of gynecologic oncology.
Subsequently, the attending experts engaged in in-depth exchanges with Professor Li Rong on related research topics, and conducted discussions and deliberations on joint research, talent cultivation, and technology translation. After the meeting, the two sides also jointly interviewed candidates for a joint doctoral training program, laying foundation for further promoting joint talent cultivation and cooperation in scientific research.
In the afternoon, Professor Li Rong conducted on-site visits and provided academic guidance at the FAH’s Biobank, Center for Translational Medicine, and laboratory technology platform of the Department of Reproductive Medicine.
The exchange activities were rich in content and featured lively interactions, further strengthening the foundation of collaboration between the FAH and the National University of Singapore. The FAH will take this visit as an opportunity to continue expanding high-level international medical cooperation, promoting interdisciplinary exchange and innovative integration, working together to address global health challenges, and jointly creating medical achievements that benefit the well-being of the people.
