On March 26, the awards ceremony for the Second “Chuang Qingchun” National Youth Innovation Competition in the Health Sector was held in Beijing. The competition was jointly organized by the Publicity and Civilization Office of the National Health Commission and the Youth Development Department of the Central Committee of the Communist Youth League of China, among others, and is a premier youth innovation competition in the national health sector. Launched in May 2025, this competition featured six tracks and attracted 3,632 projects nationwide. After multiple rounds of selection, 39 Gold Awards, 79 Silver Awards, 117 Bronze Awards, and 408 Excellence Awards were granted.

The First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) delivered an outstanding performance in this competition, becoming the only institution from Northwest China to receive a Gold Award. Among the award-winning teams, Ding Chenguang’s team from the Organ Procurement Organization (OPO), won the Gold Award, and Zheng Xinglong’s team from the Department of Cardiovascular Surgery received a Silver Award. In addition, four project teams from the Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery, the Department of Laboratory Medicine, the Translational Medicine Center, and the Biobank were granted National Excellence Awards, bringing the FAH’s total to one Gold Award, one Silver Award, and four Excellence Awards.

During the preparation phase, the Party Committee of the FAH provided overall coordination and guidance, while the Youth Affairs Office and Youth League Committee actively organized and mobilized participation. Potential candidates were identified and selected from high-quality in-house teams and projects, and multiple rounds of targeted coaching were delivered with the support of experts from both within and outside the hospital. The FAH recommended 17 projects for the provincial-level review, and 15 projects advanced to the national competition.
These honors highlight the innovative capabilities of the FAH’s young healthcare professionals and demonstrate the effectiveness of its youth development efforts.
