Recently, the internationally renowned publisher Wiley announced the 2025 second-quarter award of “Wiley China Excellent Author Program”. Associate Chief Physician Zhang Zhe (first author) and Chief Physician Sun Lianqing (corresponding author) from the Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) of the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) published a research paper entitled “Preparation and characterization of renal cell peptides from fetal rats for their antitumor activity” in the journal FEBS Open Bio, whose download count ranked among the highest of all articles published by Chinese authors in this journal in the second quarter of 2025. On this basis, they were granted the award of 2025 “Wiley China Excellent Author Program”.

Since its publication, the paper has attracted extensive attention from scholars worldwide, with the number of downloads continuing to rise during the first three months after release. This award comprehensively considers the full-text download count within three months after publication, selects from each journal several papers with the highest download numbers authored by researchers from China, and commends all authors from institutions in mainland China, in recognition of their outstanding contributions to scientific and technological progress.
