At the invitation of the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences of the Hong Kong Polytechnic University (PolyU) and the Hong Kong Association of Nursing, the International Exchange and Cooperation Center of the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) organized a rehabilitation and nursing team to visit Hong Kong from November 7 to 13 to attend an academic conference and carry out exchange visits. The team was led by Qiao Jin, Director of the Department of Rehabilitation Medicine and Xin Xia, Director of the Provincial Nursing Quality Control Center, with the aim of building a bridge for professional exchanges, drawing on advanced experience, and promoting the high-quality development of the disciplines.

From November 8 to 9, the team attended the 14th Pan-Pacific Conference on Rehabilitation hosted by the PolyU, where they engaged in in-depth exchanges with experts and scholars from China and abroad on cutting-edge research and clinical applications in rehabilitation nursing, sharing practical outcomes and innovative ideas.
From November 10 to 12, the team paid successive visits to the Department of Rehabilitation Sciences and the School of Nursing of the PolyU, Hong Kong Ikeda Hospital, and the Hong Kong Hospital Authority. At PolyU, the delegation held discussions with leaders of relevant faculties and departments, reaching a consensus on cooperation in areas such as joint postgraduate training, staff training, and scientific research collaboration, and visited facilities such as the rehabilitation and treatment clinic and specialized nursing laboratories.

At Hong Kong Ikeda Hospital, the team met with members of the FAH’s management and Consultant Sylvia Yuk-kuen Fung, a recipient of the Florence Nightingale Medal, and conducted on-site visits to areas such as the Departments of Outpatient and Physiotherapy. They gained an in-depth understanding of the hospital’s “patient-centered” service philosophy and its well-developed healthcare service system. At the Hong Kong Hospital Authority, the two sides held discussions on topics such as the healthcare system, nursing structure and talent cultivation, laying a solid foundation for in-depth collaboration in the future.
This visit to Hong Kong not only deepens mutual trust and understanding between the FAH and high-level medical and educational institutions in Hong Kong, but also gains valuable experience in areas such as discipline development, talent cultivation and service models, injecting new momentum into the internationalization of the FAH.
