From October 19 to 20, ‘Chinese Surgical Week (CSW) 2019’ was grandly held in Chengdu, Sichuan province. Professor Shi Jingsen from the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) received ‘Lifetime Achievement Award in Biliary Tract Surgery in China’.

In recognition of surgeons and scholars who have made outstanding contributions and achievements to the development of biliary tract surgery in China, Biliary Tract Surgery Group of Chinese Surgical Society of Chinese Medical Association held an award ceremony for ‘Lifetime Achievement Award in Biliary Tract Surgery in China’ and ‘Outstanding Contribution Award in Biliary Tract Surgery in China’ during CSW 2019. Professor Shi Jingsen from our hospital received the Lifetime Achievement Award.

CSW 2019 was initiated by Biliary Tract Surgery Group of Chinese Surgical Society of Chinese Medical Association and Biliary Surgeons Committee of Chinese College of Surgeons of Chinese Medical Doctor Association. After the nomination by all members of two academic associations and online voting, 10 scholars were elected to receive Lifetime Achievement Award and 5 for Outstanding Contribution Award, hoping to take this opportunity to further carry forward the spirit of "Eminent Physicians with Sincerity and Morality" of Huang Zhiqiang, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering and founder of biliary tract surgery in China, and promote the comprehensive development of basic and clinical research in the field of biliary tract surgery in our country.
