On October 15, 2025, a four-member delegation led by Professor Dmitry M. Nitkin, Chief Urologist of the Ministry of Health of the Republic of Belarus and Director of Urology at Belarusian State Medical University, paid a special visit to the Department of Urinary Surgery at the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU). The delegation conducted in-depth observation of blue-laser surgery in the operating room, laying a solid foundation for China–Belarus cooperation in the field of urinary surgery.
On the day of the visit, the expert delegation entered the operating rooms of the FAH and observed a blue-laser procedure performed by the Department of Urinary Surgery. The procedure was led by Professor Yang Lin of the Department of Urinary Surgery at the FAH. With meticulous technique paired with advanced blue-laser technology, the operation was conducted with precision and efficiency. After the procedure, Professor Dmitry M. Nitkin, on his first visit to the FAH, remarked that the blue-laser surgery left an extremely strong impression on him. He noted that applying this technology in the operating room maximizes patient safety, which is a a critical advantage. He observed that the prostate surgery required only 20 to 25 minutes, far exceeding expectations for efficiency. He stated that he plans to introduce this advanced blue-laser technology in Belarus and incorporate it into routine surgical practice to deliver higher-quality medical services for Belarusian patients.
During the observation, experts from China and Belarus held lively discussions on topics such as the application of blue-laser technology in the treatment of urological diseases, surgical techniques and operative experience, key points of postoperative care, and the dissemination of medical technologies. Professor Yang Lin gave a detailed overview of the clinical outcomes, technical advantages, and the team’s research progress in blue-laser surgery, while the Belarusian experts shared the current status and needs of urological care in their country. The exchanges sparked numerous academic ideas, and the two sides reached multiple points of consensus.
The visit by the Belarusian expert delegation to the FAH of XJTU not only signified a strong recognition of the hospital’s blue-laser surgical technology, but also further advanced in-deep cooperation and exchanges between China and Belarus in the medical field.
