On September 19, 2025, the 27th Annual Conference of the Chinese Society of Cardiology, Chinese Medical Association, the 23rd Interventional Cardiology Conference of the Chinese Medical Association, and the 2025 Chang’an Cardiology Conference opened concurrently in Xi’an.
The opening ceremony was presided over by Prof. Yuan Zuyi from the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), Executive Chairman of the conference. Prof. Ma Changsheng, Chair of the Chinese Society of Cardiology, Chinese Medical Association, delivered remarks. Wang Huan, Deputy Secretary of the Party Committee of XJTU, stated that the university would leverage the conference as an opportunity to tackle “bottleneck” technologies and advance the domestic development of cardiovascular devices. Zhao Lan, Deputy Director of the Shaanxi Provincial Health Commission, expressed the hope that the conference would help promote the cardiovascular disease prevention and treatment both nationwide and in Shaanxi Province to a new level.
Following the opening ceremony, the conference held the “Nonagenarian Honor” conferral ceremony. Prof. Ke Yuannan of the China-Japan Friendship Hospital, together with five other veteran experts, received this distinction. Profs. Ma Changsheng and Han Yaling, among others, joined the honorees for a group photo in tribute.
In the session of academic achievements sharing, Prof. Yuan Zuyi systematically reviewed advances in China’s cardiovascular field over the past year: in coronary intervention, the FLAVOUR II and REC-CAGEFREE I studies provided new evidence to inform clinical strategy; in heart failure, the PANDA-II study confirmed that administering an influenza vaccine before discharge to patients with acute heart failure improves survival; in hypertension, CRHCP and related studies offered authoritative evidence supporting intensive blood-pressure lowering; in structural heart disease, multiple device trials achieved interim milestones, and basic research identified an association between the gut microbiota-derived metabolite ceramide and atherosclerosis; in addition, in the antithrombotic arena, several studies were included in the 2025 ACC/AHA guidelines, contributing a “China solution” to international clinical practice.
In the memorial lecture session, Prof. Jiang Bin of the First Affiliated Hospital of Soochow University reviewed the life of Prof. Jiang Wenping, a founding figure of cardiac electrophysiology in China. Over more than sixty years devoted to clinical care, scientific research, and medical education, Prof. Jiang Wenping’s creed, “to wear the white coat for a lifetime and to be a good doctor for a lifetime”, together with his steadfast commitment to diligence and compassion, deeply moved those in attendance.
The conference, adopting an open posture, has built a platform for academic exchanges. Looking ahead, the conference will continue to rally the strength of the cardiovascular community, enhance standards of diagnosis and treatment, fortify the nation’s health defense, and promote the high-quality development of cardiovascular medicine in China.
