Recently, Professor Li Hui from Department of Neonatology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University was awarded the title of "psychologist" by Chinese Psychological Society, becoming the unique pediatrician with this honor in the field of pediatrics in China. Currently, 212 experts have received this honorary title nationwide. Professor Li Hui is the only expert with this title in the field of pediatrics.
The team led by Professor Li Hui has been devoted to clinical and basic research on the effect of stress upon maternal and infant mental health and attachment behavior. Professor Li Hui is the first in China to establish an intervention system involved with exercise, music and language training for newborns and infants. She was once a student of Dr. T. Berry Brazelton from Brazelton Pediatrics Institute of Harvard Medical School, one of the world most well-known founders of neonatal behavior. Since returning to China in 2010, Professor Li Hui has been devoted to early intervention and individualized family rehabilitation therapy for mental and physical retardation in high-risk infants in clinical practice. She also specializes in psychological intervention for mothers during pregnancy and postpartum with anxiety and depression to guide the establishment of mother-newborn interactions. Besides, she is engaged in early intervention for psychological problems and abnormal behaviors of children and adolescents. In May 2018, she was invited to deliver a 45-minute keynote speech at the 16th World Association for Infant Mental Health Congress held in Rome, Italy and relevant research results were widely recognized by international pediatricians. In 2018, Professor Li Hui played a leading role in establishing the Specialty Committee of Infant Mental Health of Association for Maternal and Child Health Studies, which is also the only grade II national specialty committee affiliated to our hospital. In 2014, she launched a WeChat platform of "Maternal and Infant Behavior Studio of Li Hui", which offered related public service and promoted the government to emphasize maternal and infant mental health. In 2018, Professor Li Hui received the honorary title of the 1st Outstanding Teacher of Xi’an Jiaotong University Health Science Center.
