Recently, supported by the National Key R&D Program of China (2023YFC2508705), Prof. Luo Guogang from the Department of Neurology, the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), together with Prof. Yu Shengyuan and Prof. Dong Zhao from the Chinese PLA General Hospital and other leading national experts, jointly developed and published the first Chinese Expert Consensus on Quality Control in Migraine Diagnosis and Treatment (DOI: 10.19450/j.cnki.jcrh.2025.04.001), with Dr. Wei Meng and Dr. Liu Xiao from the Department of Neurology as the primary contributors. This landmark consensus provides important guidance for standardizing migraine diagnostic and treatment procedures and improving the quality of migraine care in China, highlighting the Department of Neurology’s leadership in the field of headache medicine nationwide and its commitment to advancing regional healthcare development.
In China, the standardization of migraine diagnosis and treatment remains to be improved, and patients often face difficulties in obtaining timely and effective care. Prof. Luo Guogang’s team has long been devoted to both the clinical practice and research of headache disorders. The newly published consensus, developed in collaboration with the PLA General Hospital under the support of the National Key R&D Program, was meticulously compiled by integrating years of clinical experience, robust evidence-based medicine, and the latest research findings from both domestic and international studies.
The consensus covers multiple aspects, such as refinement of diagnostic criteria, standardized treatment procedures, and quality control indicators. With respect to diagnosis, it provides detailed clarification of symptom characteristics and key points in differential diagnosis to aid clinicians in accurate disease recognition. For treatment, it not only outlines principles of medication selection and dose adjustment strategies, but also underscores the importance of non-pharmacological interventions. Furthermore, it establishes a scientifically grounded system of quality control indicators to ensure that migraine patients receive equitable and high-quality medical services.
The release of this Chinese Expert Consensus on Quality Control in Migraine Diagnosis and Treatment represents another major breakthrough for the Department of Neurology at the FAH of XJTU in the diagnosis and treatment of headache disorders.
