On February 28, 2025, Heart Club-International Minimally Invasive Cardiac Surgery Training hosted by Department of Cardiovascular Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) was successfully concluded. Surgeons from Department of Cardiovascular Surgery of multiple countries and regions such as Japan, South Korea, Brunei, Indonesia and China attended the training course.

This training course invites a professional team of trainers, including Yan Yang, Vice President of Cardiovascular Disease Hospital and Director of Department of Cardiovascular Surgery of FAH, Keita Kikuchi, a visiting professor of Department of Cardiovascular Surgery and authoritative expert in the field of cardiovascular surgery in Japan, and Li Yongxin, Deputy Director of Department of Cardiovascular Surgery. They personally taught core technologies such as minimally invasive valve surgery, minimally invasive bypass surgery and minimally invasive David surgery from all perspectives and angles. During 1-week training session, 60 surgeries were arranged and experts delivered explicit demonstration throughout the whole process.

International students offered positive feedbacks upon the training course. Marolop Pardede from Indonesia was astonished by China's advanced technologies and looked forward to mutual cooperation and long-term training programs. Nadzir Juanda from Brunei felt honored and lucky to learn multiple advanced surgical technologies such as minimally invasive coronary artery bypass grafting (MICS CABG), minimally invasive mitral valve replacement (MVR) and aortic valve replacement (AVR), etc.

In the future, Department of Cardiovascular Surgery of FAH will deepen global cooperation network of "Heart Club" through platforms such as "Surgical Livestream" and "Training Base", bring benefits to more patients through normalized training and joint scientific research, promote the leap of China’s minimally invasive cardiac surgery technology from a "follower" to "leader" and make due contributions to a community of common health for mankind.
