On the morning of March 3, 2025, the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) held an appointment ceremony for Professor Wang Sheng from XJTU serving as Vice President of Med-X Research Institute and dual-appointed professor of Department of Nuclear Medicine and Department of Radiation Oncology of FAH. Leaders of FAH, heads of relevant administration departments and backbones of Department of Nuclear Medicine and Department of Radiation Oncology attended the appointment ceremony. Vice President Li Lei chaired the meeting and introduced the basic profile of Professor Wang Sheng.

Deputy Party Secretary Feng Guanglin delivered a speech, extending warm welcome to Professor Wang Sheng and highlighting that his groundbreaking achievements in the field of boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT) will promote FAH's in-depth cooperation in new drug R&D, nuclear medicine, radiotherapy technology and other areas and strengthen engineering medicine and talent training.

President Lyu Yi and Deputy Party Secretary Feng Guanglin presented the Letter of Appointment, FAH emblem and workwear for Professor Wang Sheng. Party Secretary Ma Xinge and Vice President Ma Xiancang presented the Letter of Appointment of Vice President of Med-X Research Institute and cultural products of FAH.

Professor Wang Sheng stated that nuclear specialty and medicine are closely connected, and his team has made remarkable progress in the field of BNCT for more than 20 years, hoping to join hands with experts from FAH to promote clinical translation, bring benefits to patients and make due contributions to the development of FAH.

President Lyu Yi recognized Professor Wang Sheng’s spirit of westward relocation and stressed that FAH will provide full support for tackling key issues in BNCT technology, hoping to obtain groundbreaking achievements in tumor treatment. Party Secretary Ma Xinge expressed his expectation for the joining of Professor Wang Sheng, expecting more fruitful achievement in the advantageous fields and contributing to the advancement of national medical and health undertakings.

After the appointment ceremony, Professor Wang Sheng delivered an academic lecture entitled "International leading new-generation tumor treatment technology: whole-process solution of boron neutron capture therapy (BNCT)", and shared the research, clinical application and future prospect of BNCT technology.
