On December 20, 2024, the national finals of the 3rd Annual Best 10 Neurointerventionalists in China concluded in Harbin. Professor Han Jianfeng from the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) received the honorary title of "Best Tutor Award" as the rotating chairman of this competition. Physician Liu Fude’s team grabbed the first prize in Ischemia Group A for skillful technology and excellent performance.
This competition is the largest, influential and most authoritative national neurointervention competition in China. A total of 1473 applications were registered nationwide, which were divided into group A (tertiary hospitals) and group B (county-level hospitals), with bleeding and ischemia specialties, respectively. From June 25, 2024, preliminary competitions of all regions were officially launched. After 52 online preliminary competitions and 16 in-person semi-finals, 71 of 738 neurointerventionalists from 552 hospitals in 30 provinces across the country finally advanced to the national finals. In the competition, physician Liu Fude showcased solid professional foundation, skillful operation and clinical adaptability, especially in the management of complex cerebrovascular diseases, received widespread recognition from the judges and peers, and finally grabbed the championship in northwest region and the first prize in national finals.
As the backbone of Department of Neurology of FAH, physician Liu Fude has been devoted to the research and clinical application of neurointerventional technology for many years. He actively participated in domestic and international conferences for academic exchanges, shared his clinical experiences in multiple prestigious academic events, constantly learned and introduced novel technologies, and improved technological levels. In this competition, he not only represented himself, but also displayed technological capability and level of both the department and FAH in the field of neurointervention across the country.
Professor Han Jianfeng, chairman of national judges of this competition and vice president of FAH, highlighted that the award by physician Liu Fude signifies FAH’s persistent innovation and pursuit of excellence in the field of neurointervention.
