Professor Jan Gettemans from Ghent University in Belgium visits Med-X Institute in iHarbour

At 9: 00 am on December 12, 2024, Professor Jan Gettemans from Faculty of Medicine and Health Sciences of Ghent University in Belgium was invited to visit Med-X Institute in iHarbour. Wang Yanan, vice president of Med-X Institute, deputy director Zhang Tianxiang and Professor Wen Yurong from Comprehensive Office, Professor Zheng Fang from School of Basic Medical Sciences of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) and other teachers and students attended the academical exchanges.

The academic lecture was chaired by Professor Wang Yanan, vice president of Med-X Institute. Professor Wen Yurong explicitly introduced the outstanding academic achievements made by Professor Jan Gettemans in related research fields and the translation and application of Gulliver Biomed, a company founded by Professor Jan Gettemans.

Professor Jan Gettemans contributed an intriguing lecture entitled "Offsetting gelsolin degradation in a mouse model of gelsolin amyloidosis using single domain antibodies (nanobodies)", shared his journey in scientific research and achievement translation over the past 20 years, and conducted in-depth exchanges and discussions with experts, scholars, teachers and students attending the meeting.

After academic exchanges, Professor Jan Gettemans, accompanied by vice president Wang Yanan and Professor Wen Yurong, visited the exhibition hall of XJTU Health Science Center and the scientific research platform of Med-X Institute. Professor Jan Gettemans highly recognized the achievements made by Med-X Institute since its establishment, and looked forward to further in-depth and systematic cooperation between bilateral sides regarding basic research and achievement translation in the future.
