To strictly implement the spirit of the 60th anniversary commemoration meeting of Chinese foreign aid medical team and national meeting of foreign aid medical team work, summarize foreign aid medical work of Shaanxi province in 2023 and strengthen the management of foreign aid medical work, Health Commission of Shaanxi Province held a summary meeting for foreign aid medical work on November 19, 2024. Xu Xu, deputy director of Department of Human Resources of the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), led the team. Zheng Shaohua, a member of the 37th-batch Chinese foreign aid medical team in Sudan, and Tan Jing, a member of the 10th-batch Chinese foreign aid medical team in Malawi attended the meeting.
In this meeting, the implementation of foreign aid tasks of the 37th-batch medical team in Sudan and the 10th-batch medical team in Malawi was comprehensively reviewed, relevant experiences and practices were summarized, the situation and tasks were analyzed, and subsequent work was analyzed and implemented.
During the meeting, Zheng Shaohua and Tan Jing both received honors. From 2022 to 2023, two physicians overcame multiple obstacles such as wars, diseases and shortage of medical materials, successfully completed foreign aid tasks, fulfilled the new era and new mission, and made due contributions to promoting high-quality development of foreign aid medical teams and health and foreign affairs.

FAH has launched medical aid work in Africa for more than 50 years by sending 39 batches of foreign aid medical teams including 134 members. Specifically, FAH has sent 31 batches of 122 members to Sudan, 1 member to Vanuatu, 1 member to Cameroon and 6 batches of 10 members to Malawi, covering multiple specialties such as internal medicine, surgery, obstetrics and gynecology, pediatrics, Chinese medicine and nursing, etc. Currently, Shang Jin from Department of Radiology and Zhang Ning from Clinical Laboratory are performing foreign aid tasks as the 11th-batch Chinese foreign aid medical team members in Malawi. FAH will persistently adhere to the principle of "The Top Priorities of the Country", and continue to send outstanding medical workers to support the development of Chinese foreign aid task, making greater contributions to building a community with a shared future for human health.
