The 3-month Heart Club Live Studio co-organized by FAH successfully concludes

On September 15, 2024, Heart Club Live Studio, hosted by Professional Committee of Cardiovascular Surgery of Shaanxi Society of Medical Communication, co-organized by Department of Cardiovascular Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU), Department of Cardiovascular Surgery of Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital, Heart Center of Shandong Public Health Clinical Center and Department of Cardiovascular Surgery of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University, successfully concluded. The 90-day live broadcast started from June 15 to September 15, 2024, with over 400,000 online hits. Multiple top-notched cardiac surgeons from all over the world participated in this live event.

This global live broadcast of cardiac surgery gathered four distinguished cardiac surgery teams, performing live broadcast of 142 surgeries. The teams of Director Yan Yang and Deputy Director Li Yongxin from Department of Cardiovascular Surgery of FAH completed live broadcast of 81 surgeries. Director Yan Yang performed the world's first case of live broadcast of minimally invasive intercostal David procedure, the first case of live broadcast of minimally invasive single-incision descending aorta artificial heart implantation surgery in China, and multiple challenging and complicated minimally invasive heart procedures. Professor Keita Kikuchi, Director of Coronary Program of Department of Cardiovascular Surgery from Tokyo Bay Urayasu Ichikawa Medical Center in Japan, who was appointed as Visiting Professor of FAH, completed live broadcast of 12 cases of minimally invasive coronary artery bypass on behalf of FAH. Director Gong Ming from Beijing Anzhen Hospital affiliated to Capital Medical University gave a standard demonstration of artificial heart implantation. Director Liu Wei from DeltaHealth Hospital Shanghai completed live broadcast of complex thoracoabdominal aortic surgery. Director Xiao Cangsong from Chinese PLA General Hospital (301 Hospital) conducted live broadcast of Bentall procedure via small incisions. In addition, Director Cui Yong from Zhejiang Provincial People's Hospital, Director Wu Yongbing from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Nanchang University, and Director Chen Lei from Shandong Public Health Clinical Center also conducted live broadcast of nearly 60 heart surgeries, respectively.

Adhering to an open and transparent principle, regardless of patients and diseases, Heart Club Live Studio truly showcases wide applicability and process of minimally invasive surgery. All experts are highly devoted to live surgical demonstrations, fully displaying technical advantages of minimally invasive surgery.

Heart Club Live Studio is the first large-scale and long-term continuous live broadcast of surgery worldwide, attracting 108 international experts from 14 countries and 23 overseas regions and 19,423 Chinese colleagues from 263 domestic cities, which realizes experience sharing among global physicians, demonstrating novel methods and concepts of minimally invasive heart surgery, and contributing "Chinese wisdom" to international medicine.
