On May 11, the 2019 Vascular Conference of Peking Union Medical College Hospital in conjunction with1 7th Vascular and Endovascular Conference of China (17th VEC) was successfully held in Beijing. Professor Liu Jianlin, Director of Cardiovascular Surgery Department, Professor Lu Shaoying, Professor Feng Jun and Professor Yang Lin of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University were invited to attend the conference as speakers and hosts.
The conference showcased the current situation and progress of vascular surgery at home and abroad in various forms of keynote speech, live surgical broadcast, new product release, consensus interpretation, professional foreign language training, speech competition, youth forum, MDT forum, nursing forum and debate competition,etc. Surgeons from Peking Union Medical College Hospital, the Ninth People's Hospital affiliated to Shanghai Jiaotong University, School of Medicine and Centro Hospitalar Conde de São Januário successfully completed live broadcast of 11 surgeries at the conference venue. Top experts from Asia-Pacific region including Hong Kong, Macao, Taiwan, South Korea, the United States and other countries gathered together for international exchanges. Besides, the conference attracted a largegroup of vascular physicians from the grass-root medical institutions, totaling more than 2,000 participants.
Initiated by Peking Union Medical College Hospital, this conference assembled domestic vascular medical centers and a team of vascular experts to serve the doctors and physicians at the grass-root institutions. Multiple vascular centers at different levels were united to establish the "Vascular Surgery Association". Liu Jianlin, Director of Cardiovascular Surgery Department received the honorary certificate of "Member of Vascular SurgeryAssociation" on behalf of our hospital.
With the support from leaders of our hospital, Cardiovascular Surgery Department was established in 2015. After 4-year development, it has become a center for the diagnosis and treatment of vascular diseases, which is based in Xi 'an and faces the whole country. Under the leadership of Director Liu Jianlin, Professor Lu Shaoying, Professor Feng Jun and Professor Yang Lin, the department has been rapidly developing by continuous learning. It not only promotes the development of vascular surgery in Shaanxi province, but also gradually catches up with the advanced vascular centers in China, thereby establishing a valuable academic exchange platform for vascular surgery in Shaanxi province.
