From September 9 to 13, at the invitation of National University of Singapore (NUS) Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Brenner Molecular Medical Center and Nano Medical Center of Singapore, Zhang Xufeng, Vice President of the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), led a delegation including Professor Wang Yanan, Associate Professor Yang Chao and Resident Physician Wu Xiaoning to visit NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, the research center and surgical cluster of National University Hospital, respectively.
During the visit, FAH delegation conducted in-depth exchanges with Professor Chong Yap Seng, President of NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, Associate Professor KOH Dow Rhoon, Director of Department of International Exchange and Professor Chew Kiat HENG, Director of Graduate Management Office regarding the renewal of the Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) between FAH and NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine. Bilateral sides put forward amendments to the MoU, hoping to provide better protection and guarantee for mutual academic visits among youth physicians and students of visits between bilateral sides in the future.
Vice President Zhang Xufeng shared clinical experience of Liver Transplantation Center of FAH with Professor Glenn Bonney from Department of Hepatobiliary and Pancreatic Surgery and Professor Alfred Kow from Liver Transplantation Center, respectively. Professor Gleen Bonney introduced NUS’s work in hepatobiliary and pancreatic surgery and clinical research. Vice President Zhang Xufeng reported innovative surgical techniques such as magnet-assisted liver transplantation and laparoscope combined with magnet-assisted liver transplantation, etc. Professor Glenn Bonney expressed intense interests in magnet-assisted technique for biliary stricture and magnet-assisted rapid vascular anastomosis after liver transplantation in FAH, hoping to personally observe magnetic surgery in the near future.
Professor Wang Yanan, Associate Professor Yang Chao and Professor Wang Jiongwei reported the latest research results of their teams and illustrated research progress in metabolic diseases and immune-related diseases, respectively. The delegation was also invited to visit NUS Yong Loo Lin School of Medicine, the research center and Surgical Operating Room of National University Hospital, respectively.
During the visit to NUS, FAH delegation held an overseas talent recruitment meeting, and introduced the teaching faculty of FAH and Med-X Research Institute, as well as relevant policies for talent introduction.
