The team from Department of Pediatric Surgery makes outstanding achievements at the 19th Annual Congress of the Chinese Society of Pediatric Surgery

From September 4 to 7, 2024, the 19th Annual Congress of the Chinese Society of Pediatric Surgery of Chinese Medical Association in conjunction with the 13th Seminar of Young and Middle-aged Physicians in Pediatric Surgery were held in Chongqing. The annual congress consists of thematic lectures, thematic discussions, academic forums and case consultations, etc. It is the top-notched high-quality academic congress in the field of pediatric surgery in China.

Cao Zhenjie, Director of Department of Pediatric Surgery in the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), led the team to contribute 5 articles and deliver oral presentations at the congress. PhD. Cheng Jiwen gave an oral presentation entitled Co-regulation of RNA-binding protein and alternative mRNA splicing in biliary atresia at the Pediatric Hepatobiliary Sub-forum.

PhD Zhang Hongke actively participated in academic discussion.

Physician Gao Zhenzhen delivered an oral presentation entitled Thoracoscopic magnet-assisted anastomosis for two cases of type Ⅲ esophageal atresia at the Newborn Sub-forum.

Physician Yan Dun contributed an oral presentation entitled Efficacy of magnet traction-assisted dual-port laparoscopic appendectomy in pediatric appendicitis at the Pediatric Endoscopy Sub-forum.

Nurse-in-charge Zhang Lijuan and Nurse Zhang Jingjing contributed a poster presentation entitled Nursing care after magnet-assisted anastomosis for congenital esophageal atresia.

The pediatric surgery team from FAH has been long-term devoted to the development and innovation of minimally invasive pediatric surgery, and has made outstanding achievements in the minimally invasive 3-mm endoscopic surgery for newborns and innovative application of magnetic surgical technologies in pediatric surgery. The team successfully performed laparoscopic resection of common bile duct cyst and Roux-Y anastomosis of hepatic duct and jejunum for two 5-day-old newborns, and successfully completed multiple cases of neonatal laparoscopic/thoracoscopic techniques, including laparoscopic retroperitoneal tumor resection, laparoscopic liver lesion resection and thoracoscopic thoracic lesion resection, etc. The team also performed the world's first case of thoracoscopic magnetic anastomosis for congenital esophageal atresia, innovatively carried out magnet traction-assisted dual-port laparoscopic appendectomy, etc., making tremendous contributions to minimally invasive and innovative development of pediatric surgery!
