The delegation from FAH participates in Beijing Forum for Global Health 2024 in conjunction with Seminar on China-Africa Hospital Development

On August 9, 2024, Zhang Shuo from Department of Radiology and Ke Mi from Department of Ultrasound Medicine of the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), along with four physicians receiving advanced study in FAH including Brave Kadoko Nyirenda, Patrick Manda, Benjamin Nyirenda and Chimwemwe Nanguwo from Department of Radiology of Mzuzu Central Hospital in Malawi, formed a delegation to attend Beijing Forum for Global Health 2024 in conjunction with Seminar on China-Africa Hospital Development in Beijing. This forum was hosted by International Exchange and Cooperation Center of National Health Commission, aiming at further deepening the mechanism construction of China-Africa Counterpart Hospital Project and achieving the new goal "from development for assistance to development for cooperation".

On the afternoon of August 9, Seminar on China-Africa Hospital Development was held in China National Convention Center. Experts and scholars in the field of medicine and health care at home and abroad discussed key issues such as deepening China-Africa medical cooperation, hospital management in China and improving medical quality, etc. The delegation from FAH shared their experiences and viewpoints on medical assistance and technical exchange with African counterparts.

On the morning of August 10, the meeting with the theme of “China-Africa Cooperation to Promote Access to Medical Products” was held. Health administration and professionals from relevant African countries, representatives of medical aid team members and representatives of medical enterprises in China shared their viewpoints and experiences on the accessibility of medical products, and discussed current situation and demand of medical consumables and devices in African countries.

As a representative of African hospitals, Brave Kadoko Nyirenda shared the results of his 6-month advanced study in FAH, and briefly reported the development status of radiology and laboratory disciplines in local hospitals in Malawi, as well as the actual demand for medical consumables, equipment and instruments.

On the afternoon of August 10, the delegation from FAH visited Fuwai Hospital of Chinese Academy of Medical Sciences. Delegates from FAH and African students conducted practical operation on the spot.
