The Silk Road Liver Cancer Elite Forum 2024 successfully concluded

From July 6 to 7, 2024, the Silk Road Liver Cancer Elite Forum 2024 was grandly held in Xi'an, China.

On July 7, Xia Qiang, Member of Chinese Academy of Engineering and Fan Jia, Member of Chinese Academy of Sciences were invited to contribute thematic reports entitled Frontier and practice of diagnosis and treatment of hepatoblastoma, and Illuminating the path forward for liver cancer research with innovative light at the main venue, respectively. Professor Lyu Yi reported novel physical therapy research of hepatobiliary and pancreatic tumors in combination with a series of innovative research by Surgical Dreamworks, and introduced the latest progress in photodynamic therapy and high-pulse piezoelectric impulse. For the first time, Professor Sun Beicheng illustrated xenograft-assisted liver transplantation for genetically-edited pigs. President Zhou Jian reported the application of ALPPS in the treatment of unresectable huge or multiple liver cancers, and reported the first case of discarded liver transplantation +ALPPS worldwide. Professor Liu Chang from the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) chaired the session of "Recalling classics and Inheriting masterpieces", and mainly interviewed Professor Peng Shuyou and Professor Cai Xiujun from Sir Run Run Shaw Hospital of Zhejiang University and Professor Pan Chengen and Professor Lyu Yi from the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of XJTU, respectively.

At the Asia-Pacific liver surgery forum, multiple experts in the field of liver surgery in China conducted academic exchanges on the standardization, process, frontier hotspots and key technologies of laparoscopic hepatectomy.

The session of liver cancer covered the frontier progress in basic research on liver cancer, minimally invasive surgery for liver cancer, translational therapy and innovative diagnosis and treatment technology, etc. Experts and scholars nationwide were invited to introduce the latest progress in diagnosis and treatment of liver cancer.

At the session of liver transplantation, many experts in the field of liver transplantation at home and abroad were invited to give lectures, focusing on topics such as autologous liver transplantation for liver cancer, damage control of donor liver cryopreservation, auxiliary liver transplantation, salvage liver transplantation, xenotransplantation, split liver transplantation and perioperative management of liver transplantation, etc.

At the session of northwest laparoscopic liver surgery, Professor Yoshikuni Kawaguchi from the University of Tokyo, Japan and other experts in the field of liver surgery were invited to give lectures. Professor Yoshikuni Kawaguchi introduced Japan's experience in surgical resection, radiofrequency therapy and interventional therapy for liver cancer. Other experts offered explanations and discussions regarding multiple topics such as laparoscopic liver resection, robotic hepatectomy, anatomical hepatectomy, laparoscopic hepatectomy for hepatic echinococcosis, ex-vivo hepatectomy for hepatic echinococcosis, and laparoscopic hepatectomy at special locations, respectively.

At the nursing session, experts, scholars and front-line nursing workers from all over the country gathered and shared the knowledge and contents from the perspectives of perioperative care, postoperative rehabilitation guidance, health science education for liver cancer and liver transplantation patients, respectively.
