Professor Li Xianchang from Cornell University conducts academic exchanges in FAH

On July 2, 2024, Professor Li Xianchang in immunology from Weill Cornell Medicine of Cornell University and Director of Immunobiology and Transplantation Research Center of Houston Methodist Hospital, visited and conducted academic exchange activities in the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU). Zhang Xufeng, Vice President of FAH, Xue Wujun, President of Kidney Disease Hospital, Tian Puxun, Vice President of Kidney Disease Hospital, Ding Xiaoming, Director of Department of Kidney Transplantation, Shi Qindong, Director of ICU, Li Yang, Director of Department of Career Development and Alumni Work, Xiang Heli, Deputy Director of Department of Kidney Transplantation, Wang Bo, Deputy Director of Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery, Wang Xiaoning, Deputy Director of Department of Hematology and the laboratory head of Department of Kidney Transplantation attended the meeting, which was chaired by Director Ding Xiaoming.

Vice President Zhang Xufeng delivered a welcome speech, expressing his gratitude and warm welcome to Professor Li Xianchang for being invited as an expert in international remote consultation of difficult cases in FAH. He hoped that Professor Li Xianchang could participate in and guide the consultation of difficult cases in our hospital in the future, aiming to improve the quality of medical services and further enhancing clinical prognosis. Subsequently, Vice President Zhang Xufeng presented the honorary certificate of international remote consultation expert for difficult cases to Professor Li Xianchang.

Professor Li Xianchang gave an academic lecture entitled "Predicting the Development of Medicine in the Future from the Practice of Immunology and Organ Transplantation", and shared the development history of organ transplantation, new challenges in the field of immunosuppression, new patterns of organ transplantation treatment, decision-making of new drug research and development, and big data and results-driven medical progress in the future.

After the lecture, all participants had heated discussion with Professor Li Xianchang regarding new ideas, new cases and new technologies of organ transplantation as well as related issues of immune response from their respective professional fields.
