On March 14, 2019, Professor Emmanouil Dermitzakis, Director of Health 2030 Genome Center from Department of Genetic Medicine and Development of University of Geneva, visited the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University and delivered an academic presentation. The presentation meeting was presided over by Ren Hui, Deputy Director of International Exchange Office.
In the morning, Dr. Dermitzakis first visited the Genomics Joint Laboratory. Director Bai Guiqin introduced the progress of the project of non-invasive DNA and second-generation sequencing of lung cancer genes in our hospital and jointly discussed the differences in the application of non-invasive DNA technology between China and foreign countries. After visiting the Biobank, Dr. Dermitzakis highly recognized the internationalized, standardized and informationized Biobank, which integrated the preservation of biological sample and the construction of sample information resource. During visiting the National Telemedicine and Connected Health Center, Professor Qian Buyue introduced the operation ofSmart Hospital, a mobile application for outpatient services in our hospital. Bilateral sides discussed the sharing of electronic medical records and data analysis.
In the afternoon, Dr. Dermitzakis delivered an academic presentation entitled "Genetics and Precision Medicine Past, Present and Future". Xu Jinpeng, Researcher from High & New Technology Department of Shaanxi Provincial Development and Reform Commission, Chen Mingwei, Director of Innovation Department, Professor Ye Kai from Xi’an Jiaotong University, Professor Zhang Feng from Benjamin Laboratory, Professor Zhang Chengsheng from Precision Medicine Center, Associate Professor Li Wanping and Research Associate Chen Jundi participated in the discussion.
Lastly, Dr. Dermitzakis and his delegation visited Daxingshan Temple Hospital District regarding the outpatient service, ward area and featured treatment area and experienced the pleasure of active rehabilitation.
Dr. Dermitzakis expressed sincere gratitude for the thoughtful arrangement and warm reception of this visit and academic exchange. Ren Hui expected to establish a cooperation platform via more international exchanges to facilitate the construction of “world-class university and first-class discipline” and promote the internationalization of our hospital.
