From April 19 to 21, 2024, China Headache Congress was held in Chongqing. The congress consisted of 10 professional forums, including 76 themed reports, covering the latest diagnostic and treatment technologies, management regimens, quality control standards, diagnosis and treatment system construction in the field of headache and related diseases, etc. Nearly 130,000 participants attended the congress for academic exchange and study online and in-person. Professor Luo Guogang from Department of Neurology of the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) led an 8-member team of physicians and graduate students to attend the congress, deliver academic reports and participate in the formulation of guidelines.

At the general election meeting on April 19, Professor Luo Guogang was elected as Vice Chairman of Professional Committee of Headache of Chinese Research Hospital Association. This is another major breakthrough of Department of Neurology in the professional title in national association after FAH became one of the first-batch National Headache Centers in July 2023, as the only affiliation of Headache Prevention and Control Professional Committee in northwest China.

During the congress, Professor Luo Guogang was invited to contribute a keynote speech regarding the effect of patent foramen ovale and migraine on cerebral cortex excitability and EEG network and the latest progress in drug overdose headache. He also participated in the closed-door discussion on the establishment of guidelines or expert consensus upon national quality control standards for migraine, spontaneous intracranial hypotension syndrome, vestibular migraine and drug overdose headache. Physician Wei Meng reported the progress in the quality control standard for migraine according to the sub-project of Key Research and Development Project of the Ministry of Science and Technology, and conducted academic exchange with top-notched experts in the field of headache research in China. Physician Qi Yi and PhD Lei Xiangyu also attended the congress.
