On April 21, 2024, Scientific Instruments-driven High-quality Development of Life Medicine Seminar was held in the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU). Experts in the field of engineering medicine contributed presentations and academic exchanges on five topics, such as biomedicine and advanced diagnosis and treatment, etc.

Professor Lyu Yi, Vice President of XJTU, Professor Zhang Zhenxi from School of Life Sciences and Technology, Professor Chen Xiaoming from School of Mechanical Engineering, Han Suxia, Vice President of FAH, and Wu Rongqian, Director of Achievement Transformation Center were invited to chair the seminar, respectively.

Professor Sun Yujie from College of Future Technology of Peking University, awardee of National Science Foundation for Distinguished Young Scholars, stressed that the essence of the competition of large-scale life science projects is the competition of technologies, and prospected the future development of multi-modal cross-scale influence basic model and life digital twins driven by multi-omics.

Luo Qian, a research fellow from Shenzhen Institute of Advanced Technology, Chinese Academy of Sciences, showcased the frontier exploratory trends in the field of cell lineage and synthesis, and further predicted the extended application of mass spectrometry in life sciences and the development prospect of organized instrument development. Research fellow Ma Teng highlighted multiple challenges and development directions of the ultrasound system under the backdrop of precision medicine, and explicitly illustrated ultra-high frequency and dual-frequency intravascular ultrasound diagnostic instrument, multi-mode acousto-optic fusion endoscopic catheter and ultrasonic endoscopy.

Professor Fu Ling from School of Physics and Optoelectronic Engineering of Hainan University introduced the challenges and technical breakthroughs faced by optoelectronics, showcased the research advances in optical fiber endoscopic microscopic imaging, gastrointestinal endoscopic microscopic imaging, and dynamic measurement of neural signals, and subsequently focused on the transformed focal endoscopic medical devices and their applications.
Professor Xu Guizhi from School of Electrical Engineering of Hebei University of Technology systematically analyzed the disease treatment and multi-scale electromagnetic nerve regulation mechanism and clinical application research in neuroscience, and introduced the modeling analysis of neuronal electrical activity under electromagnetic action, micro-electrophysiological experimental research of electromagnetic nerve regulation, the research of brain-computer fusion multi-mode electromagnetic nerve regulation system and research progress in clinical application of electromagnetic nerve regulation in brain diseases, respectively.
Ren Fenggang, an associate research fellow from FAH, gave a presentation entitled Tumor ablation and ECG therapy, illustrating the clinical application fields of high-voltage pulsed electric field ablation at home and abroad, and showcasing the innovative application and exploration practice of endoscopic pulsed electric field ablation in XJTU. Yin Jun, Chief Physician from Shanghai Sixth People's Hospital, analyzed the significant effect of duodenum upon the changes in glucose levels. Li Yang, Deputy Chief Physician from FAH, elucidated the definition, pathogenesis and interventional treatment of chronic obstructive disease and bronchial asthma, and emphasized the development prospect of bronchial rheoplasty.

Han Mengdi, an assistant professor from Department of Biomedical Engineering of College of Future Technology of Peking University, introduced the combination of flexible electronic technology and minimally invasive catheter integration technology, utilized balloons to achieve close contact between flexible sensing array and biological tissues, thus conducting diagnosis and treatment, and also introduced relevant research on the improvement of detection function by introducing magnetic materials into the body.
Lyu Jian, a distinguished researcher and dual-employed professor from Frontier Institute of Science and Technology of XJTU, illustrated the application of printing technology in manufacturing stretchable electronic devices and systems in the medical field.
Experts and scholars listened to the presentations carefully and conducted academic exchanges and discussions on specific research contents in respective fields.
