On the morning of January 15, Kidney Transplantation Department held a grand celebration ceremony to commemorate 40 years of kidney transplantation, 25 years of establishment of kidney transplantation specialty and 5,000 cases of kidney transplantation on the 3rd floor of the Scientific Education Building of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi 'an Jiaotong University.

Professor Zheng Shusen, member of the Chinese Academy of Engineering and Vice Chairman of the Chinese Medical Association, and Professor Shi Bingyi, Chairman of the Chinese Society of Organ Transplantation of Chinese Medical Association sent congratulatory letters to the ceremony. Multipledomestic distinguished experts in the field of organ transplantation were also invited to attend this celebration ceremony.
The retired experts including Professor Nan Xunyi, Professor Dang Jiangong and Professor Wang Mingzhu in the field of urological surgery, Professor Feng Xueliang and Professor Du Jinfeng in the field of nephrology were also invited to participate in the ceremony. Yin Aiping, Vice President of Kidney Disease Hospital and over 90 staff of Kidney Disease Hospital, 110 representative patients undergoing kidney transplantation in our hospital participated in the ceremony. In total, 280 attendants and 40 media enterprises and institutions gathered for this event.

Professor Xue Wujun, Chairman-Designate of the Chinese Society of Organ Transplantation of Chinese Medical Association, Director of Organ Transplantation Institute of Xi 'an Jiaotong University, and Head of the discipline of kidney transplantation delivered a report entitled "Remain true to our original aspiration, advance our cause on past successes and strive for a first-class organ transplantation discipline”, comprehensively highlighting the development history, struggling process, disciplinary achievements and future development direction of Kidney Transplantation Department. November 18, 2018 is a historical day when the 5,000th kidney transplantation has been completed in Kidney Transplantation Department of our hospital. At present, Kidney Transplantation Department of our hospital has become one of the largest kidney transplantation centers in China. The Kidney Transplantation Specialty of our hospital is the most potent and dynamic kidney transplantation specialty in western China, which integrates clinical practice, teaching and research. It is also a National Key Discipline, National Key Clinical Specialty, Key Discipline of Shaanxi Province, Human Organ Donation Administrative Center of Shaanxi Province, demonstration ward of high-quality nursing service assessed by National Health Commission of the People’s Republic of China, and a discipline authorized to confer Doctoral Degree. Fruitful results have been achieved in the scientific research. The project entitled "Innovation and clinical application of key technologies in kidney transplantation" was awarded the second prize of the National Science and Technology Award of China in 2013.
