On November 12, 2018, the Precision Medicine Center (hereinafter to be referred as “Center”), with Professor Charles Lee, Director of the Jackson Laboratory for Genomic Medicine, as the chief scientist, was officially settled in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (hereinafter to be referred as “Hospital”). The ceremony for the establishment of the Center and the signature were held in the Hospital.

Professor Lee, in collaboration with Professor Ye Kai from the School of Electronic and Information Engineering of Xi’an Jiaotong University, has set up a comprehensive scientific research team composed of top-class scientists in the Center. Both party will jointly implement major scientific research projects, assign scholars for exchange, build world-class platforms, and actively explore and jointly apply for major international and domestic scientific research projects, being committed to producing world-class research results and advanced clinical diagnosis and treatment technologies, and promoting new industries, new formats and new models for the health cause. They will implement comprehensive and multi-level exchanges and cooperation in scientific research and medical technology, thus promoting the transformation and application of precision medical research into clinical practice.

Meanwhile, Professor Lee will take advantage of PDX platform of Jackson Laboratory to evaluate the treatment plan of cancer, and strengthen the in-depth exploration and cognition of drug resistance for anti-cancer drug of cancer patients. Both party are willing to provide scientific basis for clinical medication for serious diseases such as cancer, make it possible to “precisely” cure serious human diseases, comprehensively enhance the overall strength level of precision medicine and clinical medicine in the Hospital, further promote the exchange of US-China life sciences in Shaanxi Province and even the whole country, and contribute to the fulfillment of the strategic goal of “Healthy China”.
