On October 29, 2023, the 2nd national finals of China Neurointerventionalists Surgery Competition was held in Jinan. Led by Vice President Han Jianfeng, the interventional team from Department of Neurology of the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) grabbed multiple awards in bleeding and ischemia group competitions.
China Neurointerventionalists Surgery Competition is the most authoritative and influential national neurointerventional surgery competition held by National Health Commission Capacity Building and Continuing Education Center, which is dubbed as the "National Games" in the field of neurointerventional surgery. The competition consisted of two directions: bleeding and ischemia, and each direction was divided into group A (tertiary hospitals) and group B (county hospitals). Since the 2nd China Neurointerventionalists Surgery Competition was officially launched on May 12, 2023, more than 1,500 applications have been registered. A total of 62 online preliminaries and 16 in-person semi-finals were held in 8 major competition areas nationwide, attracting the attention of more than 6 million people inside and outside this field. After intense competition, 72 physicians finally stood out and advanced to the national finals.
Physician Liu Fude from the FAH grabbed the first place in the semi-final of Northwest Division. In the national finals, he delivered a presentation entitled "Sending charcoal in snowy weather, everything encountered is beautiful—Treatment of symptomatic non-acute internal carotid artery occlusion in a patient". He showcased our hospital's high diagnosis and treatment capability and standardized surgery in ischemic stroke from the aspects of preoperative evaluation, intraoperative operation and postoperative management, and finally ranked 9th on the list of Top 10 Neurointerventionalists in China in the ischemia direction and grabbed the Most Popularity Award.
Physician Sun Peng from our hospital ranked 2nd in the Northwest Division. In the national finals, he gave a presentation entitled "Looking back upon, shooting the Sirius—Aneurysm embolization at the bifurcation of the left middle cerebral artery in a patient", and presented our hospital's advanced treatment concept and rational surgical strategy in hemorrhagic stroke from the aspects of aneurysm treatment principles and surgical skills. Finally, he ranked 13th and rushed into Top 20 Neurointerventionalists in China in group A in the bleeding direction.
At the award ceremony of this competition, the most important session was the handover of the Rotating Chairman of the competition. Vice President Han Jianfeng of our hospital was officially elected as the Rotating Chairman of the 3rd China Neurointerventionalists Surgery Competition.
