FAH receives the second prize of National Teaching Achievement Award

Recently, Ministry of Education officially announced the list of National Teaching Achievement Award in 2022. The teaching project entitled "Clinical guidance, knowledge reconstruction, mode Innovation, establishment and practice of cultivation system for interdisciplinary medical engineering postgraduates" led by Lyu Yi, Member of the Standing Party Committee and Vice President of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) and President of the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of XJTU, received the second prize of National Teaching Achievement Award for Higher Education (Postgraduate) in 2022, which is the first project receiving National Teaching Achievement Award in FAH!

Currently, National Teaching Achievement Award is the highest government award in the field of education in China, which is selected every four years. This award fully reflects our hospital’s outstanding progress and achievements in moral cultivation, teaching and educating people, and establishing cultivation system for interdisciplinary medical engineering postgraduates.

XJTU is the affiliation of this project. Lyu Yi, Liu Chang, Zhang Ming, Chen Teng, Ma Feng and other participants complete this project, which belongs to the category of medical achievement.

Cultivating innovative medical talents who can achieve scientific and technological self-reliance is a necessary condition to realize the strategy of Healthy China, which is also a critical mission of comprehensive universities in the new era. In this context, XJTU held a large-scale discussion on the teaching reform idea of "how to cultivate innovative medical talents". Postgraduate students are selected as teaching reform candidates and cultivated via medical engineering teaching mode. The cultivation ideology of "clinical guidance, scientific and technological support, multidisciplinary integration, system reconstruction" is put forward. The goal of cultivating innovative interdisciplinary medical talents who "understand clinical needs, specialize in engineering thinking, master cutting-edge knowledge and huge innovation potential" is established. This project aims to resolve multiple problems of lacking of scientific and technological literacy in medical postgraduate students, simple disciplinary structure of medical teaching staff, lacking of mature cultivation mode for medical engineering talents, and lacking of systematic guarantee mechanism for medical engineering talents. It innovatively puts forward a cultivation concept of "clinical guidance, scientific and technological support, multidisciplinary integration, system reconstruction" for interdisciplinary postgraduate students. In addition, it establishes a cultivation system of "knowledge reconstruction, teaching staff integration and multi-platform connection" for interdisciplinary postgraduate students. It also innovatively establishes a cultivation mode of "Med-CDIO-T" for interdisciplinary postgraduate students. It creates a cultivation mechanism of "supporting interdisciplinary integration, promoting resource sharing" for innovative interdisciplinary medical talents, aiming to cultivate outstanding physicians who can master engineering medicine, drive the advancement of medicine and have the potential of being engineers.
