From June 8 to 11, 2023, the 6th International Conference of Magnetic Surgery and Life Science (ICMS-2023) was held in Xi 'an, which was co-hosted by Xi 'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) Health Science Center and Shaanxi Society of Medical Communication, and co-organized by the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of XJTU and National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Precision Surgery and Regenerative Medicine.
On the first day, National and Local Joint Engineering Research Center for Precision Surgery and Regenerative Medicine (Surgical Dreamworks) jointly held a livestream demonstration of innovative clinical application of magnetic surgery with Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery, Department of General Surgery, Department of Thoracic Surgery, Department of Gynecology and Department of Gastroenterology of the FAH.

Professor Lyu Yi, Vice President of XJTU and President of FAH, delivered a speech and introduced the theme and agenda of livestream demonstration of magnetic surgery. He highlighted that magnetic surgery system has currently covered six technical systems: magnetic anastomosis, magnetic anchoring, magnetic navigation, magnetic levitation, magnetic tracing and magnetic driving, which enriched the connotation of surgery and initiated the standardization of magnetic surgery standards. He hoped that livestream demonstration of magnetic surgery will showcase practical experience and achievements of magnetic surgery in various disciplines and better serve people's lives and health.

The livestream demonstration of magnetic surgery consists of abundant content, displaying the latest research progress and achievements of magnetic surgery technology in multiple departments. The livestream demonstration was simultaneously delivered in 5 operating rooms in the FAH and Shandong Provincial Third Hospital, offering intriguing surgical demonstration to all participants.
Professor Bai Jigang, Professor Zhang Dong, Professor Yan Xiaopeng and Professor Lei Jianjun from Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery demonstrated Laparoscopic Cholecystectomy with Magnetic Anchoring and Port Reduction and Magnetic Squeezing Choledochojejunostomy. Professor Yang Wei and Professor Yin Guozhi from Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery demonstrated Magnet-assisted Laparoscopic Sleeve Gastrectomy. Professor Zhang Yong, Professor Cui Xiaohai and Professor Chen Nanzheng from Department of Thoracic Surgery demonstrated Clinical Application of Magnetic Anchoring-assisted Localization Technology of Pulmonary Nodules and Magnetic Anchoring Traction Technology-assisted Thoracoscopic Radical Resection of Esophageal Cancer. Professor Fan Lin, Professor Che Xiangming and Professor Liao Xinhua from Department of General Surgery demonstrated Total Laparoscopic Radical Gastrectomy with Magnetic Positioning. Professor Li Qiling and Professor Ji Jing from Department of Gynecology illustrated Application of Magnetic Compression Flow Blockage Bed in Radical Surgery of Cervical Cancer. Department of Gastroenterology cooperated with Department of General Surgery to innovatively demonstrate Magnetic Squeezing Recanalization of Rectal Stenosis. Professor Sun Hao and Professor Li Yu from Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery displayed Recanalization of Biliary Stricture by Magnetic Squeezing. Professor Liu Xuemin, Professor Zhang Xufeng and Professor Dong Dinghui chaired the meeting and delivered simultaneous illustration.

More than 6,000 online viewers participated in the livestreaming ICMS-2023, showcasing novel ideas and advancement of magnetic surgery in clinical practice. Meantime, it also reflects that the research and application in the fields of magnetic surgery and life sciences are showing a vigorous development trend, which will make greater contributions to human health and in-depth development of life sciences in the future.
