In the afternoon of July 13, Department of Rehabilitation Medicine in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi'an Jiaotong University successfully held academic activities of Chang’an Buddhism – Medicine Combination Rehabilitation Forum Series --China-US Rehabilitation Medical Treatment Forum in Hospital Area of Daxingshan Temple. This meeting has invited famous professors to give lectures. They are Professor Nancy ž Landgraf, Director of Physical Therapy Department of Youngstown State University and Ge Weiqing, associate professor of Physical Therapy Department of Youngstown State University.
Professor Nancy Landgraf introduced the important role of physiotherapists in improving the residents’ enthusiasm in sports and the community health during community rehabilitation, while associate professor Ge Weiqing introduced the primary investigation of treatment mechanism of Grade 5 spinal arthrodesis from the perspective of evidence-based medicine.
Director Qiao Jin said that the employment of these two professors could help our Daxingshan Temple come into normal operation and drive long-term sustainable development as soon as possible. It will finally improve quality and development of Daxingshan Temple Rehabilitation Hospital Area in medicine, teaching, research, etc. in the rehabilitation field, and even enhance its academic status of the whole discipline among the peers.
In the morning of the 14th, the US experts came to Hongzhuan South Road Community and visited the gratuitous treatment of Deng Jingyuan Rehabilitation Volunteer Team every Saturday, and had a preliminary understanding of the ingeniousness of traditional Chinese Medicine. Professor Nancy and Ge Weiqing expressed that both parties should enhance communication in the future. They also hoped to make deeper cooperation and communication among Youngstown State University, Xi’an Jiaotong University, the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University and Deng Jingyuan Community Volunteer Service Center in Yanta, Xi’an next year.
