On July 14-16, 2018, the First China – Denmark Clinical Training Class on Hearing and Vertigo was held in Xi’an. This training class was hosted by Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University, and was co-organized by Otometrics Company, attracting over 100 trainees to learn, discuss and communicate the progress and trend of hearing and vertigo. This training class has been widely recognized and appraised by the industry personnel.

Professor Zhang Shaoqiang, Director of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery of the hospital, attended at the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. At the meeting, the teachers from the Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery made a thorough discussion about the contents such as development history of hearing and vertigo, clinical application of OAE (otoacoustic emission) and AEP (auditory evoked potential), diagnosis & treatment of common inner ear and acoustic nerve diseases and audio-logical assessment, discussion on the case of CSOM (chronic suppurative otitis media) with vertigo as the main complaint, new thought on diagnosis & treatment of BPPV (benign paroxysmal positional vertigo), application of VEMP in vertigo, clinical significance of v-HIT in vertigo disease, etc. Ms. Xing Juanli also demonstrated the operation method of v-HIT and shared the skills. After the meeting, the students passing the examination were awarded a certificate of completion.

Last December, the department cooperated with Otometrics Company and established China– Denmark hearing and vertigo training base, aiming to create our department as a training base of standardized examination of hearing and vertigo in Shaanxi and even the west part of China, cultivate more qualified examination technicians and serve the patients in a better way. The clinical technology training class this time has laid a solid foundation for enhancing the influence of the discipline.
