On-site review meeting of National Center for Cognitive Dysfunction in northwest region successfully held in FAH

On the afternoon of May 12, 2023, the on-site review meeting of National Center for Cognitive Dysfunction (NCCD) in northwest region, led by Department of Neurology of the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), was successfully held in the Science and Education Building of the hospital.

To build standardized cognitive centers, the cognitive center administration office of National Health Commission has formulated an explicit application process and evaluation system, and on-site review and comprehensive evaluation are important procedures in the construction of cognitive centers. As one of the 23 Core Advanced Centers for Diagnosis and Treatment of Cognitive Dysfunction in China, the FAH was appointed by NCCD to take the lead in organizing the on-site review and comprehensive evaluation of cognitive centers in northwest China. This review meeting was chaired by Professor Qu Qiumin from Department of Neurology of tne hospital. Professor Du Yifeng from Department of Neurology of Shandong Provincial Hospital and an expert from NCCD, Professor Zhang Yi from Department of Neurology of Gansu Provincial People's Hospital and Professor Qu Qiumin from Department of Neurology of our hospital were invited to serve as the review experts. Eight advanced cognitive centers including Tangdu Hospital of Air Force Medical University, Shaanxi Provincial People's Hospital, Xi 'an No.3 Hospital, Xianyang Hospital of Yan'an University, Gansu Provincial People's Hospital, General Hospital of Ningxia Medical University, Qinghai Provincial People's Hospital and Traditional Chinese Medicine Hospital affiliated to Xinjiang Medical University, and 3 memory disorder prevention centers including Yan'an University Affiliated Hospital, Lanzhou First People's Hospital and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xinjiang Medical University, delivered reports in-person or online, respectively. The review experts proposed on-site questions regarding the contents of the reports and the materials submitted by each center, and gave suggestions and advice for further modifications based on their experiences. The review meeting endured for 3.5 hours, achieving the goal of promoting the construction through expert evaluation and joint improvement.

Deputy Director Yu Qing of Hospital Administration Bureau of Health Commission of Shaanxi Province and Professor Han Jianfeng, Assistant-to-President of our hospital, were invited to give speeches, highly recognized and approved the value of this review meeting, hoped that all centers can identify and resolve the problems, learn from each other and make scientific plans, elevating the diagnosis and treatment of cognitive dysfunction to new height and safeguarding the health of dementia patients and affected families in northwest China. They also expected that Department of Neurology of our hospital can give full play to the demonstration and leading role of Core Advanced Center for Diagnosis and Treatment of Cognitive Dysfunction and work together with all centers to push the construction of cognitive centers in northwest China to the leading position nationwide.
