The research on liver stem cell lymph node transplantation that Han Bing, a schoolfellow from Xi’an Jiaotong University, worked on was interviewed and adopted by famous American drama Grey’s Anatomy.
Dr. Han Bing works in Starzl Organ Transplantation Research Institute of University of Pittsburgh, USA. Recently, his research on liver stem cell lymph node transplantation was interviewed and adopted by famous American dramaGrey’s Anatomy(episode 12 of season 14). In the plots, the surgeon introduced the latest progress of cell transportation to intern “…small multi-block organs also can provide the function similar to that of the entire organ. For example, liver precursor cells are injected to lymphoid tissues, and through induction of somatomedin, sufficient small livers can be produced to replace the patient’s prostrated liver to work…”Grey’s Anatomy, themed with the American resident physician’s progressing and tempering in career, has been deeply loved by audience at home for its professional medical materials and dramatic plots. Fourteen seasons have been played until 2018, and it has won the TV champion for 14 continuous years, and moreover, it is an American drama with the highest audience rating in Chinese mainland.
Han Bing once studied in Xi’an Jiaotong University, majoring in clinical medicine (admitted in 1999), and got a doctor's degree in 2010. During his postgraduate period, under the guidance of Professor Lü Yi and Professor Yu Liang from Hepatological Surgery Department of First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University, he completed the research on “Liver Cell Planting in Spleens to Form Livering Spleens for the Purpose ofTreating End-stage Liver Disease” inHepatological Surgery Department/ Hepatological Surgery Workshop, and his related research was published by famous journals likeTransplantation. Until now from 2010, he has been working on research on liver cell transportation in University of Pittsburgh.Hepatological Surgery Workshopof the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University is to realize the technical innovation in hepatological surgery in “magnetic surgery” and “tissue engineering liver building” with focus on interdiscipline research on hepatological surgery clinics and engineering.
