During May 6-8, 2016, a three-day “2016 Forbidden City International Pharmacist Forum” was held in Beijing by the Chinese Pharmaceutical Association in collaboration with the pharmacist associations of the United States, Japan and many other countries. The core theme for this year was “Internet + Pharmaceutical Care” and more than 4,000 pharmacists attended the forum.

The Forbidden City International Pharmacist Forum Debate Competition is one of the key events of this forum and has won praise and recognition from all walks of life. Contestant Zhang Di, a young pharmacist from Department of Pharmacy of our hospital, together with the competition team composed of representatives from Xijing Hospital and the Second Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University, attended this debate on behalf of the Northwest China and finally won the National First Prize. The debate centered around three current hot topics, namely “pharmaceutical service standard and charge before or after pharmaceutical service”, “whether pharmacists also need standardized training” and “whether unified management is needed for hospital pharmacists and licensed pharmacists”. All three topics were closely linked to the practical work of pharmacy and solved directly the current confusion of the majority of pharmacists, thus deepening our thinking on the future development of pharmacists. The third Debater Zhang Di, a young pharmacist of our hospital, demonstrated the solid theoretical foundation, agile on-the-spot reaction ability and excellent teamwork spirit of pharmacists in our hospital, which fully showed the style of pharmacists in the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University.
