From November 10 to 13, "2022 Academic Annual Meeting of Professional Committee of Kidney Diseases of Chinese Association of Integrative Medicine" was held in Shanghai. Nearly 10 academicians and more than 200 well-known nephrologists in the related fields of integrative medicine were specially invited to deliver keynote and special lectures, highlighting the concept of integrative medicine and interdisciplinary integration. Two forums entitled “Blood perfusion case presentation by young physicians” and “Debate on kidney diseases” were designed for young and middle-aged physicians. Physician Xue Jinhong, Physician Liu Wenyan and Physician Yan Senhui from Department of Severe Kidney Disease and Blood Purification of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) participated in these competitions.
"Blood perfusion case presentation by young physicians-clinical blood perfusion case presentation competition" is guided by relevant departments of National Health Commission and initiated by China Medical Tribune. After preliminary, final and national semi-final competitions, 14 contestants from 11 municipality and provinces including Shanghai, Hebei, Hunan and Shaanxi provinces entered the national final, aiming to promote the popularization and exchange of research results in the field of blood perfusion treatment in China. Xue Jinhong gave a speech entitled “Overcome the challenges in blood perfusion treatment” and shared the treatment of 1 case of restless legs syndrome receiving maintenance hemodialysis and eventually received the second prize in the national finals with classic clinical case, exquisite PPT display, calm demeanour and intriguing oral presentation.
“Debate on kidney diseases” is hosted by China Association of Integrative Medicine, focusing on the diagnosis and treatment of common problems in clinical practice, such as renal anemia and uremic pruritus, as well as clinical case sharing. After multi-round competitions for half a year, 12 contestants from five municipalities and provinces including Shanghai, Sichuan province and Shaanxi province, participated in the intense national finals. Liu Wenyan delivered a speech entitled "Integrative medicine is a perfect match-analysis of refractory anemia patients receiving hemodialysis" in the finals of “Debate on kidney diseases”, finally grabbing the first prize. She was honored to receive the certificate from Chen Xiangmei, Academician of Chinese Academy of Engineering.
Physician Yan Senhui received the title of "Outstanding Case Award of the Year" in the national finals of "Xundao Cup-the most valuable case challenge competition”. "Xundao Cup" is a national competition on vascular access of hemodialysis in China. The competition consists of surgical video demonstration, oral presentation, on-site challenges and questions from young supervisors and expert comments,etc. The overall quality of the contestants can be evaluated from the perspectives of standard surgical procedures, surgical proficiency, expression capability and adaptability. Physician Yan Senhui gave a presentation entitled “Ultrasound-guided balloon dilatation of chronic occlusion of arteriovenous fistula (AVF)” and reportedsurgical treatment of a patient with chronic occlusion of AVF receiving maintenance hemodialysis, creating a vascular access for the patient and safeguarding the patient’s life.
