Ever since the introduction of Da Vinci surgical system at the beginning of 2016, robot-assisted surgeries increased in variety and quantity greatly. Up to May 16, 2017, surgeries assisted by Da Vinci surgical system exceeded 500 cases in our hospital.

At 8:00 on the morning of May 16, 2017, a robot-assisted endoscopy radical prostatectomy was being made in No. 15 operation room of Anesthesia and Surgery Department. This surgery marketed that robot-assisted surgeries exceeded 500 cases in our hospital. From the introduction of Da Vinci surgical system at the beginning of 2016 to now, robot-assisted surgeries increased in variety and quantity greatly, which would not be achieved without efforts of personnel in relevant surgery department and Anesthesia and Surgery Department.

Robot-assisted surgeries sharply increased since May with 6 surgeries a day at most. It has become an ordinary state to perform surgeries from 8 a.m. to 10 p.m. and even 2 a.m. or weekends. Doctors of Anesthesia and Surgery Department are always the first to enter the operation room and the last to leave every day. They may work on weekend or break time. It is well-known that Da Vinci surgical system is the most advanced surgery platform in the world. The equipment is expensive and installation of equipment is complicated and time-consuming before surgery. Except rich experience in cooperation of endoscopic surgery, nurses in the operation room need to be familiar with all disciplines. They should be good at learning and drawing on each other's strength. What’s more, they may complete cooperation of robot-assisted surgery with good sense of direction and space. Of course, the control of this big machine in a narrow space safely and accurately needs not only wisdom but also excellent manipulation skills.

With further development of robot-assisted surgeries, the surgery will become more complicated and face more challenges. Although achievements have been made, there still exits space of progress. Personnel of the Anesthesia and Surgery Department will be more studious to promote rapid development of robot-assisted surgeries in our hospital with complete cooperation.
