On the afternoon of June 21, 2017, as invited by Professor He Shuixiang, Director of the Gastroenterology Department, Professor Paul Yeaton, Director of the Gastroenterology Department of School of Medicine, Virginia Tech came to the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University for a visit and exchange, and gave an academic lecture.

The meeting was presided over by Li Yingchao, Deputy Director of the Gastroenterology Department. Professor Paul Yeaton is a professor of internal medicine and radiology. He has made outstanding achievements in the fields of endoscopic ultrasonography and ERCP. During this exchange, Professor Yeaton gave the lecture “Role of EUS when gallbladder motility fails”, and made a discussion with young physicians of our hospital. Later, he visited the Endoscopy Center, ERCP Interventional Operation Room and inpatient wards of the Gastroenterology Department of our hospital. He highly affirmed and praised the advanced medical technology and equipment of our hospital, and expected to have an opportunity to carry out deeper communication.

This academic activity is one of the foreign-related academic exchange programs of the Gastroenterology Department in 2017, which promotes the scientific research and international exchange of the Gastroenterology Department of our hospital, and further showes the level of diagnosis and treatment of digestive system diseases, especially the endoscopic diagnosis and treatment of our gastroenterology department. And it also improves the international influence of our hospital.

In recent years, the Gastroenterology Department of our hospital has implemented the long-term plan of academic exchange with international famous disciplines and experts. Eight foreign experts have been invited to visit and give lectures in our hospital, and 12 young and middle-aged physicians/doctoral candidates have been arranged for studying abroad/joint cultivation.
