From September 3 to 13, 2023, Li Xuelan and Liu Dan from Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology were invited by the Organizing Committee of the International Federation of Placental Associations (IFPA) to attend the IFPA2023 Annual Meeting, and pay an academic visit in Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the University of Auckland and that of the Affiliated Hospital of the University of Auckland. At IFPA Annual Meeting, international scholars shared the research results of placental development, placental function, placental imaging, placental pathology and placental therapy, especially the treatment of FGR. Scholars put forward novel treatment ideas from the perspective of placental gene and molecular target, which is worthy of further investigation. In addition, the design of outpatient referral channel, publicity materials regarding women's health care and the maintenance of laboratory instruments in Department of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Affiliated Hospital of the University of Auckland deserved our attention and study.

Li Xuelan and Liu Dan highlighted that after returning to China, they hope to carry out placental pathological research, analyze the relationship between clinical features, placental imaging and clinical outcomes of FGR with and without complications, and emphasize the significance of placental imaging in FGR treatment in combination with relevant research results.
