In September, 2024, the annual meeting of British Orthopaedic Association was held in Birmingham, U.K. Professor Yin Zhanhai, Director of Department of Orthopedics from the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), was invited to attend the meeting.

In addition, the annual meetings of AGA (Gesellschaft für Arthroscopeie und Gelenkchirurgie) and of European Orthopaedic Research Society (EORS) were held in Zurich, Switzerland and Aalborg, Denmark, respectively. Bai Lang, a young orthopedic physician from FAH, was invited to attend and selected as ON/EORS Education Grant Winners.
Young physicians under the age of 40 from U.K., Germany, Italy, Spain, Switzerland, Austria, Ireland, U.S., Brazil, Argentina and China submitted applications for ON/EORS Education Grant. After qualification screening, self-recommendation letter, recommendation letter and professional evaluation, physician Bai Lang from Department of Orthopedics from FAH was shortlisted on Top 10 ranking.

AGA annual meeting this year gathered experts and scholars from more than 40 countries around the world, covering multiple hotspot topics such as arthroscopic repair of shoulder joint, arthroscopic soft tissue repair of hip joint and minimally invasive surgical treatment of knee ligament injury, etc. Physician Bai Lang was invited to deliver two speeches at the special session of "Minimally invasive repair for rotator cuff Injury". Moreover, he was also invited to give a speech at EORS, showcasing the latest research progress in rotator cuff tissue engineering technology in Department of Orthopedics of FAH.

The research results of Department of Orthopedics integrate biomaterials with minimally invasive surgical technology, providing novel solutions for the repair of joint soft tissues. Relevant achievements have been widely recognized by internationally-renowned experts such as Professor Holger Jahr, Chairman of EORS, Professor Yunzhi Peter Yang from Stanford University and Professor Chunfeng Zhao, Director of Orthopedic Biomechanics Research Laboratory of Mayo Clinic.
From October 17 to 18, 2024, graduate students Liu Qiaonan, Ai Yixiang and Wu Yukuan from Department of Orthopedics attended the 39th annual meeting of Japanese Orthopaedic Association (JOA) in Tokyo, Japan, and reported the latest research results of Professor Yin Zhanhai’ team, further demonstrating FAH’s academic influence and international competitiveness of in Asia.
