The 17th World Conference on Lung Cancer (WCLC) was held on December 4 to December 7, 2016 in international convention center, Vienna, Austria. At the invitation of International Association for the Study of Lung Cancer (IASLC), Professor Ren Hong of Department 2 of Thoracic Surgery and his team members of Qin Sida, research assistant, and postgraduate Li Xiang attended this conference and shared two achievements, which attracted attention from relevant fields.
The conference attracted more than 6,200 attendees from 82 countries and regions. More than 400 world famous experts served as speaker, host of special session and debater of posters in WCLC 2016. The topics involved in this conference such as smoking control, early screening of lung cancer, TNM staging of the 8th version, molecular detection of lung cancer, new targeted therapy, immunotherapy and global multicenter three stages RCT, all represented the highest achievements in the researches of lung cancer at present.
Under the guidance of Professor Ren Hong, Doctor Qin Sida and Postgraduate Li Xiang made poster exhibitions of different topics, respectively. The contents involved clinical sample, researches in vivo and in vitro of XIAP promoting degradation of mature Smac in non-small cell lung cancer and exploration and demonstration for prediction efficiency of new NAR, prognostic correlation index of NSCLC. The achievements about invasion and metastasis mechanism and comprehensive treatment of lung cancer made by the team of Professor Ren Hong were fully recognized by international counterparts and conference organizers. Besides, the team of Professor Ren Hong was invited to participate in the conference and deliver report of academic exchange in the future. Participation in such high-level international academic conference will be continuously encouraged by our department in the future to increase comprehensive abilities of scientific research and clinics and enlarge international academic influence of our hospital in this field.
