Academic and scientific achievements

In the research of magnetic surgery, Prof. Lyu has created a number of practical clinical technologies, including magnetic compression for bilioenterostomy and pancreatoenterostomy, treatment of rectovaginal fistula by magnetic compression and magnetic reconstruction of the portal vein with allogeneic blood vessels in canines. He has developed magnetic anchoring technology and equipment, and achieved single-port laparoscopic cholecystectomy, left lateral lobectomy of liver, sleeve gastrectomy, total laparoscopic hysterectomy and laparoscopic ovarian cystectomy. To develop magnetic coupling sputum suction robot and magnetic navigation endotracheal intubation for the treatment of patients with 2019-nCoV. He initiated and presided over the first International Conference on magnetic surgery, at which established the concept and discipline system of magnetic surgery and published it as "Xi'an consensus on magnetic surgery".

Magnet-assisted vascular anastomosis developed by Dr. Lyu during liver transplantation shortened the anhepatic phase to only approximately 10 minutes. Given the importance of shortening the anhepatic phase to improve surgical outcomes among patients undergoing liver transplantation, the study demonstrated the safety and feasibility of a novel magnet-assisted vascular reconstruction technique during the liver transplantation procedure.

It was observed by Dr. Lyu that male specific gene SRY promotes liver ischemia-reperfusion injury, which is an important reason that leads to more severe liver I/R injury in male than in female.
