On May 23, 2021, Northwest Laparoscopic Liver Alliance was established, aiming to improve the level of laparoscopic liver surgery in five northwestern provinces. With the support from President Lyu Yi of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU), Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery of our hospital is the chairman affiliation, Professor Liu Xuemin serves as the Chairman, Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery from more than 10 large-scale tertiary hospitals in five northwestern provinces are the vice-chairman affiliations, and Department of Hepatobiliary Surgery from provincial and municipal hospitals are the member affiliations of this alliance.
On September 23, "Northwest Laparoscopic Liver Alliance Livestreaming Surgery Meeting (Hanzhong) in conjunction with Annual Meeting of Hanzhong Professional Committee of General Surgery" co-organized by our hospital and Hanzhong 3201 Hospital were successfully held in Hanzhong, Shaanxi province. The meeting was held both online and in-person, consisting of livestreaming surgery and academic exchange. Director Liu Xuemin and Director Liu Xiaochen acted as the Chairman.
Professor Li Yu and Professor Zhang Xufeng from our hospital completed a case of laparoscopic right hepatectomy combined with thrombectomy, suture and reconstruction of the right portal vein. Director Liu Xiaochen and Director Duan Jianfeng from Hanzhong 3201 Hospital performed a case of laparoscopic left hepatectomy. Director Liu Xuemin explained the key points of laparoscopic liver surgery, emphasized the importance of basic skills of laparoscopic liver surgery including liver anatomy, identification of vital signs, posture and position, design of Trocar, selection of surgical route, laparoscopic assistant skill, assistant surgeon cooperation and surgeon skills, which aroused heated discussion on the spot. During the academic meeting in the afternoon, several surgeons began to review the surgical procedures and discuss the skills, methods, advantages and disadvantages with the experts, bringing intriguing academic sharing for all audience.
This meeting provided a professional learning and communication opportunity for surgeons who are performing and expect to carry out laparoscopic hepatectomy. This is also the second successful event held by Northwest Laparoscopic Liver Alliance in Shaanxi province after the previous livestreaming surgery event in Ankang.Subsequently, the alliance will continually carry out livestreaming surgery activities in different cities from Shaanxi province and conduct academic exchange among major hospitals in five northwestern provinces.
