As the first training base of National Stroke Center in Northwest China, Department of Neurology of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) successfully held Advanced Training Class of Endovascular Treatment of Acute Ischemic Stroke (AIS) from August 7 to 8, 2020. In total, 15 students from Northwest China participated in this training course. Besides the lectures delivered by experts from Shaanxi province, Peng Ya, Director of Department of Neurosurgery of the First People's Hospital of Changzhou, was also invited to give a lecture for the trainees.
The training course lasted for two days. On the 1stday, theoretical knowledge on endovascular treatment of AIS was taught. The training course on the 2ndday mainly focused on closed-door case discussion, and surgical device and procedure demonstration on the simulator. On the morning of the August 7, Professor Han Jianfeng, Assistant-to-President of our hospital presided over the opening ceremony, welcome all the students, and expressed gratitude to experts from Shaanxi province, especially Professor Peng Ya travelling afar from Jiangsu province for their enormous support to this training class. Subsequently, Professor Han Jianfeng, Professor Peng Ya, Professor Chang Mingze from Xi 'an No.3 Hospital, Professor Jia Yi from Xi’an Gaoxin Hospital, Professor Zhang Ru from the Second Affiliated Hospital of XJTU, and Professor Yuan Xingyun from our hospital delivered respective lectures, covering a wide range of topics, such as research progress on endovascular treatment, application of stent and other instruments in endovascular treatment, preoperative evaluation and postoperative management,etc. Experts elaborated the technical details in combination with specific cases, which brought significant benefits to the trainees.
At 8:30 in the next morning, Xi Cong from Baoji People's Hospital, Huang Cunsheng from Sun Simiao Hospital of Beijing University of Chinese Medicine, Li Dongsong from Ankang Central Hospital, Si Jianghua from the First People's Hospital of Lanzhou City and Gao Yajun from Yan 'an University Affiliated Hospital shared valuable experience in the endovascular treatment of AIS in clinical practice. The trainees delivered in-depth discussion and analysis with Physician Yuan Xingyun, Song Wenfeng and Liu Fude regarding the problems in the diagnosis and treatment of AIS cases. Professor Li Jian from Yan'an University Affiliated Hospital also conducted specific analysis in combination with his clinical work. At the end of discussion, Professor Yuan Xingyun showcased a series of surgeries recently completed in our hospital, and shared experience in the removal of complex thrombosis. Eventually, the trainees performed the operation of the stent and catheter to deepen understanding of common surgical instruments and techniques.
