On August 1, the Western Semifinal of the 6thMKM China Pharmacist Professional Skills Competition was successfully held in Chengdu, Chin. This competition was hosted by China Health Promotion Foundation and Zhongguancun Zhuoyi Institute of Science and Technology Innovation for Prevention and Control of Chronic Diseases, and jointly organized by Special Fund of China Health Promotion Foundation Medical Knowledge Management (MKM), Clinical Pharmacy Committee of Sichuan Medical Association and Sichuan Provincial People's Hospital. As one of the 24 leading teams in Shaanxi province, Pharmacy Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) participated in the Western Semifinal along with the Second Affiliated Hospital of XJTU and Xi 'an No.3 Hospital. Luo Yu led the team of Pharmacist Zhang Lu, Wang Xidan and Luo Saisai from our hospital finally grabbed the second prize in the Western Semifinal with excellent performance, which fully displayed the solid knowledge of pharmaceutical theory and professional pharmaceutical service capability of young pharmacists.
A total of 33 teams selected from 11 provinces and cities, such as Sichuan province, Chongqing, Shaanxi province, Yunnan province, Gansu province and Xinjiang Uygur autonomous region, attended the semifinal. The competition questions consist of prescription review questions, medication use questions and context consultation questions. Different from previous competitions, context consultation questions are newly added to focus on the communication and expression capability of pharmacists to guide medication use for patients and emphasize cultivating the comprehensive quality of pharmacists. The purpose of this competition is to improve the review ability of pharmacists and the risk assessment skills for overall medication usage in patients. Through the intensive competition, pharmacists from our hospital have accumulated abundant on-the-spot experience, learned strengths from competitors and overcome our weakness, providing pharmacists with thoughts and ideas for the service pattern and content for patients in clinical practice.
Under the backdrop of deepening medical reform in China, Pharmacy Department of our hospital continues to forge ahead, promotes self-growth of the pharmacists, adapts to the new situations, masters novel skills, actively pursues transformation and development and strives to improve business level and communication capability, aiming to make pharmacists' due contribution to enhancing the health care service for the public.
