Our hospital hosts Online Science Popularization Course for COVID-19 Prevention and Control Knowledge (U.S. and Canada session)

At 8: 00 a.m. on April 10, Online Science Popularization Course for COVID-19 Prevention and Control Knowledge (U.S. and Canada session), hosted by the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi 'an Jiaotong University (XJTU) and co-organized by Xi 'an Jiaotong University Alumni Association, Alumni Association of Toronto, Alumni Association of Vancouver, Alumni Association of Montreal, Alumni Association of Southern California, Alumni Association of Northern California, Bethune Medical Development Association of Canada and Shaanxi Association of Canada, was held in our hospital. Experts from five regions of China, U.S. and Canada gathered and broadcast live to global audience.

She Junjun, Assistant-to-President of our hospital, presided over the activity. He expressed that China's COVID-19 prevention and control measures have achieved significant progress. Our hospital has also summarized and shared XJTU’s experience in the ‘treatment, prevention and control of COVID-19’ with physicians from more than 10 virus-hit countries, such as Italy, Iran, Australia and U.S.,etc. The purpose of this activity is to share experience and join hands with overseas Chinese to combat COVID-19 very soon.

Subsequently, Shi Bingyin, President of our hospital, shared experience in personal protection methods and treatment of patients with severe COVID-19. Wang Peizhong, a tenured professor of Memorial University of Newfoundland in Canada, delivered a detailed introduction of a survey of Canadian Chinese for the understanding of COVID-19. Zhu Bo, Deputy Director of Department of Respiratory Medicine of our hospital, illustrated the diagnosis and treatment of COVID-19 and personal protection against the pandemic. Zhang Bingmei, Director of FNA Medical Organization Office in New York, illustrated the latest information regarding the rapid spread of COVID-19 and shared experience in the control of this pandemic in New York. Sun Lianqing, Deputy Director of Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine of our hospital, explained the preventive measures and pandemic prevention interventions based on the theory of preventive treatment in traditional Chinese medicine. Li Xianhui, Director of Department of Traditional Chinese Medicine of Bethune Medical Development Association of Canada, shared experience in the treatment of COVID-19 by traditional Chinese medicine. Chen Wei, Director of Clinical Laboratory of our hospital, analyzed the correlation between laboratory testing and COVID-19 infection. Chen Yunchun, Department of Psychiatry of our hospital, added that in the face of negative emotions and potential secondary psychological distress caused by COVID-19, ordinary people should strengthen psychological protection from the perspectives of confidence, information, protection, daily activity, adjustment and mutual assistance,etc. After the course, all experts delivered online interactions and exchanges.
