Recently, at the second Geriatric Rehabilitation Nursing Case Competition hosted by the Chinese Association of Rehabilitation Medicine, the nursing team of the Department of Critical Care Medicine at the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) won second prize for its case titled “Precision Nursing Reverses a Crisis: Rehabilitation Nursing Practice for an Elderly Patient with H10N3 Avian Influenza Complicated by Severe ARDS”.

The case focused on the challenges of rehabilitation nursing for critically ill elderly patients. It innovatively integrated precision ultrasound technology with rehabilitation nursing, significantly improving the safety and effectiveness of nursing care through systematic assessment and individualized intervention. The presentation delivered by Nurse-in-Charge Guo Yindan in the final was highly recognized by the judges and peers.

This award fully demonstrates the professional competence and innovative spirit of the Department of Critical Care Medicine in the field of rehabilitation care for critically ill elderly patients. It also reflects the department’s commitment to the patient-centered philosophy and its continued efforts in developing specialized nursing practice. Taking this achievement as a new starting point, the team will continue to optimize rehabilitation nursing plans, provide higher-quality nursing services for elderly patients, and contribute to the high-quality development of nursing care at the FAH.
