On October 27 (local time), the 105th Annual Congress of The American College of Surgeons (ACS) was held at Moscone Center in San Francisco. The appointment ceremony for the newly-elected ACS Fellow (Fellow of The American College of Surgeons) was a pivotal part of the congress. Professor Lyu Yi from our hospital was admitted as a Fellow of ACS.
The ACS is one of the most authoritative international academic organizations in the field of surgery. Founded in 1913, it has currently developed into the largest organization of surgeons around the globe. The college puts extremely strict requirements for the selection and examination of the Fellow, who must have a prestigious reputation in the field of surgery worldwide and have made positive contributions to the diagnosis and treatment of surgical diseases. At present, 174 Chinese surgeons have been admitted as ACS Fellow, and merely tens of whom are from the field of general surgery.
