The 16th Annual Meeting of the Chinese Association of Critical Care Physicians and the Chinese Critical Care Congress 2025 (CCCC2025) was held in Nanjing from September 4 to 7, 2025. The conference brought together critical care experts from across the country to share cutting-edge technologies and clinical experience in fulfillment of their mission to safeguard lives.
Under the leadership of Director Shi Qindong, the medical and nursing team of the Department participated in various activities, including session chairing, thematic presentations, case competitions, and simulated case contests. Their involvement demonstrated, from multiple perspectives, the expertise and critical care capabilities of the team from the Department of Critical Care Medicine at the the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi’an Jiaotong University (XJTU) .

Before the conference, young and middle-aged critical care physicians nationwide competed through online quizzes and offline workshops, with only nine advancing to the Critical Care Simulated Case Challenge. Dr. Duan Yangyang from the Department of Critical Care Medicine, demonstrating solid knowledge and accurate clinical judgment, teamed up with peers and was awarded the First Prize.

The conference featured dedicated sessions for academic paper exchanges and clinical case discussions in critical care medicine. Among only 24 cases selected nationally for oral presentation, four were from the Department of Critical Care Medicine. Dr. Wang Dan presented a case titled “Hemophagocytic Syndrome Characterized by Persistent Hyperlactatemia”. Through a thorough analysis of this rare disorder, the presentation offered novel insights for early identification and intervention, earning Second Prize in the paper exchange session. Dr. Shi Xiangyu reported “A Case of Atypical Hemolytic Uremic Syndrome in an Adult”, demonstrating high vigilance toward rare diseases and precision in diagnosis and treatment, and was also awarded Second Prize. Dr. Sha Sha shared the “Treatment Journey of an Elderly Patient with Goodpasture’s Syndrome,” emphasizing the effective collaboration between primary and tertiary hospitals and underscoring the clinical value of tiered diagnosis and treatment. The presentation received Third Prize. Dr. Zeng Qinjing presented “A Case of Post-Renal Transplantation Pneumocystis jirovecii Pneumonia with Acute Acalculous Cholecystitis”, in which meticulous early analysis of the condition ultimately led to successful patient outcomes. The case was honored with the “Outstanding Case Award”.
