The inaugural conference of Western Branch of Asian Academy of Audiovestibular in conjunction with the 2nd Sino-Danish Audiology & Vestibular Training Course organized by Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery of the First Affiliated Hospital of Xi’an Jiaotong University was successfully held in Xi’an from August 3 to 6, 2019. Nearly 100 scholars from Guizhou province, Sichuan province, Inner Mongolia autonomous region, Gansu province, Qinghai province, Ningxia Hui autonomous region and Shaanxi province attended the conference and training course.

Asian Academy of Audiovestibular is determined to establish Western Branch in our hospital. Professor Zhang Shaoqiang, Director of Department of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery expressed that the Western Branch aims to train audiologists in a professional, standardized, systematic and customized pattern, strive to achieve first-class teaching faculty, equipment and environment in the near future, become an international training base as soon as possible and contribute to the development of otology at home and abroad!
Since 2016, our hospital has successfully held three consecutive sessions of Silk Road Vertigo Forum and one session of Sino-Danish Audiology & Vestibular Training Course, which are highly praised by medical institutions at all levels in China. This year, the conference aims to promote the standardized construction and development of audiology and diagnosis and treatment of vertigo in response to the Belt and Road Initiative and the theme of Silk Road Vertigo Forum. Professor Zhang Shaoqiang and Mr. Zhou Xiaofang, Executive President in Asian region of Otometrics jointly presided over the inaugural ceremony of the Western Branch.
Asian Academy of Audiovestibular is a permanent and non-profit continuing education institution for audiovestibular medicine established by Otometrics, a division of Natus. Based on the philosophy of "Accumulating knowledge through learning, resolving problem through argument, dealing with others with generous mind and behaving with justice and humanity", the Academy is committed to providing high-quality training courses for professionals through lectures by visiting professors at home and abroad and ultimately improving the service quality for patients. The Academy not only offers training program for Chinese students, but also opens up to those from other Asian countries. The relationship between the Academy and professional organizations resembles that between airport and airline. Any professional organization can utilize this platform, and visiting professors in China also have the opportunity to deliver lectures to students from other Asian countries, jointly facing the whole world.
