From December 13-14, 2024, the 7th International Conference of Magnetic Surgery launched in the First Affiliated Hospital (FAH) of Xi'an Jiaotong University (XJTU). Yu Jinming, member of Chinese Academy of Engineering (CAE), Professor Lyu Yi from XJTU, Sun Yue, deputy director of Social Development Bureau of Department of Science and Technology of Shaanxi Province, Feng Guanglin, deputy secretary of FAH, Professor Bradley Nelso from Swiss Federal Institute of Technology in Zurich, Professor Gunhee Jang from Hanyang University, Professor Dongki Lee from Yonsei University in South Korea and over 100 experts in basic and clinical research of magnetic surgery and magnetic medicine were invited to attend the conference. The opening ceremony was chaired by vice president Zhang Xufeng of FAH.
In the keynote session, 31 experts at home and abroad, such as Yu Jinming, CAE member, Gu Ning, member of Chinese Academy of Sciences (CAS) and Professor Lyu Yi, contributed 44 thematic presentations online and in-person, focusing on the frontiers of minimally invasive interventional medicine, research and development of magnetic materials, biological effects of magnetic field, application and expansion of magnetic surgery technology, focusing on magnet-assisted minimally invasive surgery technology, magnet-assisted endoscopy and catheter technology, magnetic field and physiology and disease, clinical application of magnetic surgery technology, research on magnetically-controlled intelligent equipment, engineering magnetism and medical application, magnetic materials and physical microenvironment, magnetic nanomaterials, magnetic sensing and medicine, and magnetic medical equipment, etc.
During the conference, the first editorial board meeting of Magnetic Medicine was held simultaneously. More than 30 editorial board members at home and abroad, such as editor-in-chief Lyu Yi, executive editor-in-chief Wu Rongqian and editorial board member Professor Bradley Nelson, attended the meeting. Professor Lyu Yi illustrated the unique opportunities and challenges faced by Magnetic Medicine. Professor Wu Rongqian introduced the current progress in manuscripts, the incentive policy for manuscript contribution and the development goals in the next five years. Guo Huan, publisher from KeAi, shared the core points and challenges in the development of this new journal, editorial responsibilities, highlights in the application of international databases such as Scopus and PubMed, etc. Magnetic Medicine is scheduled to launch the inaugural issue in March 2025.
At the conference, Forum on Clinical and Practical Magnetic Traction Surgical Field Exposure System was successfully held. Li Zhijun, the first-level inspector of Xi'an Science and Technology Bureau, explicitly introduced the policy supports in innovative medicine from the aspects of transformation environment of scientific research achievements, the construction of National Medical Center and National Regional Medical Center and transformation policy of medical device achievements in Xi'an, respectively. Professor Zhu Shaihong from the Third Xiangya Hospital of Central South University and over 20 experts and professors delivered thematic lectures on the application of magnetic traction technology in weight loss and metabolic surgery, thoracic surgery, gynecology, pancreatic surgery, gastrointestinal surgery and conducted in-depth discussion regarding the frontier hotspots and clinical challenges. Professor Zhang Yong from FAH introduced the product of "Magnetic Traction Surgical Field Exposure System (YXZZ 20242011437)" and explicitly illustrated the technical characteristics of this product to all participants. In addition, the forum also emphasized the "Expert Consensus on Surgical Field Exposure under Magnetic Traction-assisted Laparoscopic Surgery".
Meantime, the awarding ceremony of "Silkroad Magnetic Medicine Alliance Member" was also held.
